The 3 piece ergonomic mouthpiece results in soft, even pressure across the tongue, bars, and lips contacting different nerves then in your typical 2 piece mouthpiece. The dog bone contacts the tongue for pressure to help rate and set a horse's head. The sweet iron mouth piece is intended to rust causing salivation for a more supple mouth.
